Geolink is a private company founded in December 2007 as a spin-off research company developed within the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), in the area of vehicle communications and spatial databases.
Geolink specializes in optimizing the operation of car fleets, involving mobile computing devices that communicate in real-time with central servers that permanently monitor and optimize the operation of vehicles. Call center solutions tightly integrated with fleet management services are also an important component of the technological architectures developed by Geolink. We have partnerships with map providers at a global level that enhance our solutions, allowing them to work anywhere in the world.
Geolink is headquartered in Porto and works in close collaboration with the University of Porto and several other national and international universities and research centres. Geolink was actively involved in the international program Carnegie Mellon – Portugal in one of the main research projects: DRIVE-IN (Distributed Routing and Infotainment through VEhicular Inter-Networking), implementing an inter-vehicle communication network on a scale throughout the city of Porto .
Portugal’s main taxi hubs rely on Geolink and our Taxi-Link system to support the submission of several million taxi orders each year. Our leadership is the result of constant innovation, placed at the service of the taxi sector.
Inspired by our academic background, work at Geolink is closely linked to research and innovation. The walls are full of whiteboards where someone is always drawing diagrams that inspire new ideas and solutions. Together with scientists from various research institutions, we are proudly involved in publishing academic papers that push the boundaries of Science in areas such as Intelligent Transport Systems, Vehicle Communications or Mobile Computing.
